I agree on the Phil Robbins comment...wouldn't hurt my feelings if PV never played a home playoff game again
whats the deal with robbins?
Well, I have made some very lavish posts on here in the past basically to pump our boys up like 70-7 against Haysi and so on and I see that it has worked, but I'm going to be completely honest on this way. We have a good team, good enough to beat Tazwell? I think so. DOes Tazwell have a good enough team to beat us? I think so. Therefore I see this being a good game and coming down to who has the most rushing yards and fewest Turnover. I'm not predicting a score because I think it will be to close. I will be there however cheering our boys on. By the way anyone see HEATH MILLER DOMINATE AGAIN? SWORDS CREEK BABY!!
I don't think Phil Robbins made the playoff system up. He did benefit from it the first years of exsistience because he understood how it worked and scheduled accordingly giving him an edge. However, now that other teams understand the system, for example Hurley, and are able to schedule accordingly to get the maximum benefit from the new system Powell Vally and the LPD as a whole are suffering. Because it is an eight team district LPD teams can't schedule Non-district games to rack up on points. Which the BDD teams have been able to do getting seventy-five percent of the district in the playoffs the last two years. Something I am sure Coach Robbins knew coming in. I don't see where the joke is on Robbins and Powell Valley they are making the playoffs and have a heck of a shot to win the region. But go ahead and get your cracks in cause Thomas and Julius have a couple of clones coming up and Powell Valley will be doing all the laughing the next few years.
Any kind of mild discomfort to the man gives me delight. I would've loved to see clintwood get in the playoffs over PV.
yea i seen that on heath .i posted on va preps and someone acted like they was offended by it .i was just reconizing heath because he is a gr8 guy for our community and our kids to look up to.
Yeah if Clintwood could have taken care of business they would be in and PV would be out. Phil was the one who proposed the idea(of seedings being based solely on points) to the VHSL and tried so hard to get it passed. It didn't pass the first year but was brought back to vote the next year and it went through. Its not right to just go on points considering a district champion is more deserving of a higher seed if they beat you head to head.(example Haysi/Honaker this year) Haysi still stands an excellent chance to be the #1 seed but I just don't see how that would be fair...that was Robbins doing completely on that. He had nothing to do with the ratings scales and all tha...just the seeding situation.
what is the deal with coach robbins? why would a coach not fight for a proposal that would benefit your program? if a coach didn't that would ignorant
biggame i don't coach robbins was the only coach/principal/AD that voted for it or was in favor of it...if that was the case i don't think that the proposal would be in effect...so pretty much robbins was not the only one
I never said he was the only one...he was kinda like the lead senator trying to get the bill passed. What do you mean whats the deal with Coach Robbins? Did I miss something? All I said is it was not a good idea...yes the set up stands to benefit Haysi this year but that doesn't make it right in my mind just because I'm a Haysi alum.
